"XJDano" (xjdano)

I was actually texting about selling the metro with a guy last week. Then I moved it around the driveway, and CEL was on. I remembered that when I was driving it last it came on and was misfiring, which it occasionally does after a while and I replace spark plugs and it’s good to go for a while.
I go to parts store and change plugs 3/ $7 with a gapper because who knows where I put it last time.
I decide to put the scanner on it just in case, and it says something about O2 sensor bank1 sensor1.
Then I get to looking at where sensor 1 is in the manifold and notice this crack under the heatshield that is just sitting on the mounting bolts.
Damn.
About $70 for a new manifold, not including the new bolts that go into the head as they are FUBAR and probably need to be cut off. And another $65 for an O2 sensor.
Plates are up in December so I have until then to decide what to do with it.
Although it still gets about double the Equinox MPG.

Might be worth trying to use some of quickie-fix heat paste.

What app is that you’re tracking fill ups with?

Does the auto store look at you like your a dumb ass when you ask for only 3 plugs? I’ve seem similar reactions to the 5 request (volvo) but bet 3 would really throw them for a loop.

Happen to know anyone who can weld, even badly? Some crappy welds over the cracks will probably sort that at least temporarily.

Gas tracker, they bought out the aCar app I used when I had a droid phone.
You can input Maintence items as well and set reminders.

While not the best solution, a temporary fix could be JB Weld.

For $18 I'll see if it fits. O2 won't work as I have OBDII.

The crack goes pretty far down, and maybe eveN on the back side, if I remove it, I'll replace it. I hardly drive it any more. I just need to get rid of it.

I may try some quiksteel epoxy, but it goes all the way down about 3-4". It needs replaced.
I would rather sell it then fix it. Or donate it to be a chump/ lemons racer.

I may try some quiksteel epoxy first and see if that does anything. There is rust layers on there and the crack is 3-4" long.

Thats fair enough, just thought then youre only really paying for new bolts rather than the manifold. The o2 sensor might not even need replacing.

I sent you an email. You’re close enough that this could be doable.
